Hey, I sell animated GIF banners online. Ever since I started my shop it's been perfectly fine uploading GIF banners. They are 468x60 in size. Now recently, whenever I upload a new GIF, the animation goes insane once Shopify uploads it. The older products GIF images still look the same, but now I get this effect happening:
If anyone knows a solution of has any information, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I assume in the GIF creation process you've picked the option to crop frames without changed pixels. You'll need to include the entire frame. This will create a bigger file, but you should see much better results in the output.
Either that, or make sure the GIF is used at the original size - so in other words don't use the img_url fitler to create different sized versions.
Hey, thanks for the reply!
I've used Photoshop to create the GIF banners for quite a while, and i've never selected any crop frames without changed pixels to my knowledge. I just tried to create a GIF on a seperate computer - again it looks fine after it's initially created and I preview it on Chrome. But, when I upload it to my product page on Shopify it takes longer than it used to, I assume it's 'processing' it, because when it does show up, it's very distorted. I noticed there's a (new?) option to edit images used Adobe creative cloud on the Shopify product page, maybe that has something to do with this? All my old GIF banner products still look fine in my store, so it seems like something has been changed recently in Shopify when it comes to adding animated product images? Any GIF image I upload is turned to crap currently.. Thanks very much for your time!
