Tag a customer when leaving gift message

Hi there,

We're trying to find a way to easily pull out data from which customers buy our product as a gift versus for themselves. The only way I can think to do this is where people enter a message into the 'Gift Message' field during checkout.

Is there a way to tag people during the checkout process if they've left a message?

Alternatively if there's a better way to segment this data please let me know! We're looking to pull this information into Google Data Studio via Supermetrics.
