Theme preview not working

Hi there, it seems like the theme preview isn't working. I'm working on a new theme (unpublished), but when I click 'preview', it only shows the current published theme instead. It's been like this for a few days now. I'm wondering if Shopify folks are aware of this problem...

Thx.
Lee

Same problem here,.. On the index page it always show the current theme. Product pages do show the "preview theme", but it's not possible to get it back to the current theme or to another theme anymore.

I've sent a message to support yesterday, but haven't heard anything yet.

Hey guys!

I wanted to let you know that the issue is well-known on our end, and is currently being investigated.

We're experiencing this as well.

Temporary solution:

  1. Go to theme template editor (for the theme you want to preview)
  2. Choose a random file
  3. Add a whitespace or any other character, and delete it again
  4. Save the file
  5. Now preview should work again
No retreat, no surrender!

Just got this reply from support (#498068):

Just check everything out and your store looks good to go.

Are you still having trouble previewing your site or is it all good now?

Checked it but it's still not working.

I really need to make some adjustments to our theme but I don't want to edit the live theme, Caroline, do you have an update?

Try with a different url and add the preview_theme_id parameter.

Example: yourstore.com/collections/all?preview_theme_id=your-theme-id

This is the issue with some specific themes. Their developers might have hidden it for some reason.
So simply you can inspect the page and in sources(2nd option).

At the end of march 2021 I'm still experiencing this issue! The link solution didn't work. Anyone have any ideas about this?
