Weird code above product photos

I added some product photos to my site's homepage. There is some weird code above each image:

If I change the number of products in the columns, the code changes (250x500, etc).  I can't seem to find the solution.  I have not done anything usual to the site other than add products to the homepage.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Hi, @qwertygrrl!

This is May from Shopify. Welcome to our Shopify Community!

In most cases, when you see codes appear on your store's website, it is most likely be caused by some bad code found within your theme. However, it's hard to exactly point out the source of the problem without directly looking at your account. When it comes to issues like this we'd typically open up a fresh install of another theme to see if the issue is replicated. If the issue is resolved in a freshly installed theme, then that means the issue lies within your current theme. If the issue persists on the freshly installed theme, then the issue could most likely be caused by an app.

If you are using a theme made by Shopify, our theme specialist may be able to take a closer look into this. If this issue appears on a third party theme, then you'd want to reach out to the theme developer directly, hire a Shopify Expert, or hopefully one of our experts here can provide some further insight on how to get this resolved!

Let me know how it goes. If you are using a Shopify developed themes, and you'd like our team to take a look, please follow back up and we can continue with our support!

Cheers!

What's the URL where this happens? Inspecting the code might give some clues.

Hello all,

This theme was created by a 3rd party who unfortunately is no longer offering support.

@JoesIdeas the code is located on the site's homepage here.

Hi again, @qwertygrrl!

I'm sorry to hear that, and thank you for letting us know your Store URL.

I followed @JoesIdeas's idea on inspecting the code, and I found that this section might be coded in the theme on purpose by the theme developers, perhaps for testing purposes. I am not an expert in coding but I do know a little bit about it, so I'm going to try my best to help out! Since this is a third party theme, I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly which code or file to edit, since the file names and code structure will differ from one theme to another, but generally, most Shopify themes are similar! That being said, let's dive into it!

Before we start, I highly recommend making a duplicate of your theme, in case of any unintended results. After you make a duplicate, you can follow the steps below:

1. Since the code we want to fix is located on your products card, you'll want to go to your theme code ('Admin > Online Store > Actions > Edit code').

2. In the code editor, search for a 'card' file. If you use the file search function, and type in 'card' you should be able to see all code files that made up this section of your store. In the screenshot below, I am going to use Debut as an example:

3. Open up a file called 'product-card-grid.liquid' or a file with a name is similar to that, if the developer named it differently. Inside this file, you can find this code, which is causing the issue:

--------
{{grid_image_width}}
--------

4. You can either delete this section or comment it out like this:

{% comment %}
--------
{{grid_image_width}}
--------
{% endcomment %}

5. Click 'Save'

In case you made any mistakes on this file or would like to undo your changes, you can always roll back to an older version of your theme.

I hope this helps! If you are still seeing this issue, please let me know.

Hello @May

I tried your suggestion and unfortunately it did not work.

Ya looks like some liquid code just needs to be removed. Hard to say without looking in the theme code but another tactic you can try is exporting your theme file, then search for a CSS class in the nearby elements.

For example you might search for index-section then look in that file to see what's causing that test code showing. You might also try searching for -------- since that's unlikely to appear anywhere else.

Hi again, @qwertygrrl!

I'm sorry to hear that! Great suggestion by @JoesIdeas above by the way!

Since it is quite difficult to figure out exactly which part of the code is causing this problem, I am going to send an email to the email address attached to your forums account so I can take a closer look into this. Moving to email means I can authenticate your account and proceed with next steps!

Keep your eyes peeled for the email!
