YouTube video embed in slideshow - "Minimal" Theme

Hello all,

I was interested to know if it was possible to modify the "Minimal" theme code in order to embed a YouTube video as one of the slides within the slideshow section. Ideally, I would like to have the slideshow sequenced as video, image, image, etc.

Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Hi Dan,

Sure is possible!

Here are the steps:

1- Grab some embed code for youTube video from here: http://embedresponsively.com/

2- Copy that code to your clipboard.

3- Click here.

Right after this code...

<ul class="slides">

... add your embed code inside a li element:

<li>... YOUR YOUTUBE EMBED CODE ...</li>

Hi Caroline,

Thanks for your assistance. I tried copying and pasting the YouTube embed code after the <ul class="slides"> tag, but to no avail. Upon previewing the code changes, the landing page appeared as the previous version. Any ideas?

Thanks again!

Caroline would be right you would have to place the embed code in between your <li></li> tags

<li>... YOUR YOUTUBE EMBED CODE ...</li>

You would also have to adjust the height and width width="800px" height="534px" in your embed code

@Dan - I followed the steps and it worked aok. What was the code you tried to paste?

You would also have to adjust the height and width width="800px" height="534px" in your embed code

@Cole -- the link Caroline posted is what Dan needs to generate the sizes. Since it's a responsive theme adding set pixel sizes is a bad idea (aka: it would break the layout).

Hello all,

Thanks again for your continued help. I attempted copying and pasting the responsive embed code directly after the opening <ul class="slides"> tag (where the asterisk is placed). It's been a few years since I've coded - would this work, or should I embed the code directly after the closing </ul> tag on line 19?

Hi Dan,

You can give a try to our app that does exactly this (plus managing all video links in a central location): https://apps.shopify.com/dynavi-video-manager.

Let me know if you have any questions about it.

Thanks,

Asaf
