Hello shopify community. Right now, while most of us have to stay at home, I decided to improve my shop little bit. I am facing a problem that I don't know how to make and display my sub-collections in one collection.
For example I have clothing shop. I create link to 'For her' collection and how I can add other collection(like shoes collection, t-shirt collection and so on ..) to 'For Her' collection?
Also I want them to be displayed like default collections( for example in any shop: shop.myshopify.com/collections).

Hope you got what I am saying, tryharding to explain it.. :D

p.s I am not talking about simple drop-down menu.

Hello @henrbu,

That is an interesting point. Which I never came across. Um, a way to do it could be using tags?
If the tag has 'for her' and 'shoes' then its one list.
If it has 'for her' and 't-shirts' then it will be another.

Sounds like solution, gonna try it. However, what if I want to see them like in /collections, I mean in blocks. If i click on 'For her' I have to see a block to click on 'Shoes', 'T-shirts' and etc - will tags make it?

You'd have to make a new collection template and specifically design it with the images you'd like to use, and use the same styles that are on your collection page. So you'd make your sub collections as just regular collections "For Her" "Shoes" etc, then create your master collection called lets say "Gift Guide", then if you're familiar with html it should be pretty easy to make a grid layout like your collection page as a separate template and apply that template to Gift Guide. What I might do, is create an array for all the things you need like:

{% assign collection_urls = "/collections/for-her, /collections/shoes" | split: ', ' %}
{% assign collection_images = "/path-to-your-for-her-image.jpg, /path-to-your-shoes-image.jpg" | split: ', ' %}
{% assign collection_titles = "For Her, Shoes" | split: ', ' %}

<div class="grid"> {% for collection_title in collection_titles %} <div class="collection-item grid-item"> <div class="collection-title">{{ collection_title }}</div> <div class="collection-image"><a href="{{ collection_urls[forloop.index0] }}"><img src="{{ collection_images[forloop.index0] }}"></a></div> {% endfor %}
</div>
If my solution helped you, please like and accept as solution!
If you'd like to make any edits to your store, please send me a personal message and we can discuss what you'd like to accomplish :D

This is exactly what I've been trying to find for the past few days when the client told me they want a landing page for their browse by "tags."  I think I am going to test making all their "tags" into separate collections instead and see if I can make a page for that. I created a regular page and put images on it and links to the "tag" pages, but when you click the breadcrumb, it takes you back to all the items in the main collection, not the sub collection. Thanks for asking this as it is helpful!
