creating sub catagories

Hi. 

I sell children's clothing. I have a category on my website for occasions. I then have sub categories under occasions for valentines, Christmas, birthdays etc. 

Ive managed to link the correct pages to each sub category. However, the main collection page 'occasion' is a blank page and I can't work out how to add like a collection list onto it.
