Hi, @genr8printing!

Julie here from Shopify Support.

Thanks for reaching out. I took a look into some app options for you and I did manage to find some that support PDF uploads. A few I recommend checking out include:

Feel free to take a look and see if any of these options might suit your needs. These app pages also have example stores linked, where you can test out the function from a customer's perspective, as well as screenshots so you see what the app looks like on the backend. If you want to allow customers the ability to also upload JPG or PNG files, these apps will also support those file types.

I hope this helps. Let me know what you think of these apps!

Nice! Those apps solve half the problem but doesn't completely! What if the pricing depends on the file uploaded, in case of a document printing, the total price payable at the checkout depends on the number of pages in the document uploaded. Has anyone found out any solution to this problem?

Hey, @vishs!

If your product price is dependent on the file your customer uploads, then you may want to look into a different app entirely. In fact, there are apps specifically designed to allow customers to request prices from you.

I took a look at the Shopify App Store to see if any of them also support file uploads and it looks like both Request a Quote and Globo Request a Quote offer this feature. Similar to an "Add to Cart" button, these apps will allow you to add a "Add to Quote" button to your product page. Customers can then upload a file, like a PDF, to the quote request. When submitted, you'll receive an email notification and will be able to set a price quote, then easily convert your quote into an order.

While these apps won't be able to analyze the number of pages in a PDF and provide a price based on that, it does provide you with the ability to accept file uploads, offer quotes, and convert them into orders.

Both of these apps have example stores that you can access from each of their pages in the App Store. Those will help you get a good idea as to how these apps work from a customer's perspective. I recommend taking a look to see if either of these will suit your needs! If you have any questions about these apps or if you are curious about the level of customizations they offer, you can always contact the developers directly via the Support section of their respective pages in the App Store.

I'd love to learn more about your products and how you are currently handling this setup. Are you offering customers printing services?
