Customers can leave a message about their order in the cart screen, but some don't checkout via this screen. They are then left confused as to how they can leave us a message.
I would ideally like to add a message box to the checkout screen, or a pointer to where they can find it?

Shopify's checkout cannot be edited for safety and security reasons, but one way to notify your customers that they can leave a message in the cart would be by updating the product page to say as much.
That said, I'm curious as to how and why your customers would by-pass the cart page, thereby missing the cart notes section. Could you explain your set-up a little more for me, please?
