help needed: Simple Theme collection list image problem

Hi, could someone help with this? I want an image for each of my collections. 

I have the Image uploaded as collection image.

tried a different browser, cleared cache and cookies. still just the text and green box

Turns out I had overlay on in theme settings-colours. FIXED
