hi all!

I have recently followed this post: https://community.shopify.com/c/Technical-Q-A/Making-Image-on-Homepage-Clickable-Attaching-a-Link-to...

it helped me make my 'image with text overlay' section become clickable! unfortunately, the section has become larger than I want, and I cannot change it back.

here is an image: Screen Shot 2021-01-02 at 8.31.39 PM.png

as you can see, the section height says 'medium' in the website editor, but it is much larger than that. additionally, the section height option no longer works at all.

I would appreciate if someone could help me make this 'section height' option work again so that my 'image with text overlay section' is actually the correct size!

thank you so much! I can provide more information if needed!!

This is an accepted solution.

Hi there,

the post you mentioned basically suggests to wrap

<div class="hero__inner ...>...</div>

with a tag like this:

<a href="{{ section.settings.image_link }}">
  <div class="hero__inner ...>
     ...
  </div>
</a>

However, this makes certain CSS rules apply to wrong elements.

My recommendation is to try and move the opening <a href=...> tag to be right below the following line:

<div data-section-id="{{ section.id }}" data-section-type="hero-section">

and closing </a> to be put  right above the following lines:

</div>
{% schema %}

This should fix your problem.

I am looking to make the section height of 'image with text overlay' much smaller than it currently is. It was smaller before, but the steps I followed in the previous post made it really big for no reason. thank you!

hi tim,

I have just implemented your ideas. It does not seem to not fix the problem. I would love to hear your feedback.

Sorry, probably I was not clear enough -- you seem to have moved entire hero__inner wrapped inside <a href ...> ... </a>.

However my suggestion was to unwrap  hero__inner  and leave it where it initially was and wrap with a element entire content of the section.
