All things Shopify and commerce
I added some URL redirects today. And they aren't working. Anyone else seeing it? I know there are issues with the Admin according to the Status page. But, didn't know if URL redirects are impacted.
The support Chat queue is very long right now 🙂
Thanks,
Chris

Hey, Chris!
Which links are you trying to redirect to that aren't working? Are you getting an error message with these?
Remember, the URL Redirects only work when redirecting from a URL that results in a 404 error. If it is a valid link you're trying to redirect from, it won't work. You can find full details on this here.
Best regards,
Freddie

This works great for products!
However, how about the tens of thousands of us who have a Page for the homepage content?
My example is my site's page https://hoverboardrepair.com/pages/hoverboard-parts-repair
I fetch the contents of this page on my homepage https://hoverboardrepair.com/
So what can I do here? I need the page content to be live. I tried marking it as "hidden" but then it won't display on the homepage. I don't think Shopify allows us access to .htaccess or robots.txt or I'd go add a noindex or canonical into there, but I can't with the current Shopify setup.
Thanks!
Daniel
Hey Freddie,
I was looking for such an answer that why can't I redirect from a page which is not working. This can create duplicity.
There are two URLs of my webpage: https://boobearfactory.com/collections/giant-teddy-bears/products/18-giant-teddy-bear-loving-you & https://boobearfactory.com/products/18-giant-teddy-bear-loving-you
Both of these URLs direct to one single page which creates duplicity on the website. This effects the On-Page SEO of my website.
Can you please help out with this?
Regards

Hi,
You can use canonical url tag and it will help.
I'm trying to redirect my collections page to a specific product page. Is this possible?
Here is my reason:
When someone clicks on "continue shopping" it automatically forwards to /collections.
I don't want to lead them to a "collections" page because there will be nothing there.
I don't want to place anything in my collections because I have an app that automatically generates new products by my users and I don't want to clutter my front-end store to confuse my users
I’m having the same problem. Have you managed to sort this on your site? Thanks!
Hi
As per documentation,
Hello,
I'm having the same issue. It's been a week since I set my redirection:
these pages should redirect:
But nothing happens
Thank you!
