Auto add product on Buy X Get Y

I've spent hours trying to solve what at first I thought was a pretty basic ecommerce feature. I really appreciate the Buy X Get Y feature but it is really hard to explain it to customers. And it is far from smooth as the customer needs to have the gift in the cart for the code to work. I have seen very little response from the Shopify team regarding this functionality (with posts as old as 2016), just many store owners baffled by this not being possible yet.

Does anyone have a solid cost-effective alternative or has this been actually resolved in a manner that I am missing?

Hi Ericrivier,

In shopify if you select Buy X get Y at first you need to select the minimum Quantity and on specific Products or Collection and viceversa were customer get what if he/she buy .So am sharing a app link were you can have Automatic Discount and Stack discount .
