All things Shopify and commerce
Over the years of adding products to our store, we've had some variants get added differently, ie X-large vs X-Large vs X Large. I'm not at a point where I'm trying to add a filtering app to our store and it's causing a headache when it comes to filtering options.
Is there a good and easy way to bulk edit those size (and color, etc) variants so they're consistent across the board?
The best way would be to take a full product CSV export and then you can search, filter, and replace in bulk in the CSV file on columns option1 value, option2 value, and option3 value
After that, you can import the edited sheet with the Overwrite checkbox checked.
(Note: Do keep a backup file of the original CSV file just in case if anything goes wrong)
Hello @HighFiveThreads
Ultimate Filter & Search app has the feature to merge variant option into a common one, so you can group "X-large", "X-Large", "X Large" into XL.
Hello,
My name is Alison and I am the Customer Success Specialist for Ablestar apps. I apologize for the late reply on this. Our Bulk Product Editor app is capable of both editing and re-ordering variants.
The trick is filtering for the correct variants to edit. All variants for a given product will share the same 'Handle', this is what ties them together. The 'Option Name' fields hold the labels for the variants (like 'size' or 'color'), and the 'Option Value' fields hold the data (like 'small medium large' or 'red green blue'). So if you want to filter for all the size 'X-Large' variants, you would filter for 'option one value = X-Large'., and then you could edit the 'option one value' field as you choose.
There are 3 option places, so it is possible that the 'size' on your store is in the 'Option 2 Value' or 'Option 3 Value' field.
The app also has a free version available, so you can try it out without incurring any charges. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us at support@ablestar.co.
Best,
Alison
