Can not remove Facebook Messenger icon from my shop as well as welcome message

Hi 

 

I am struggling to remove the current chat functionality from my page.

There is a Facebook Messenger icon as well as the pop up message:

"Hi! We're here to answer any questions you may have."

 

I have already done the following:

  • Uninstalled Messenger and disable it from my shop.
  • Disable the integrations on my Facebook page. 
  • Disable and deleted all other chat apps I have. 

The pop ups seems to be worse on mobile for some reason.

Cal here from Shopify, thanks for reaching out to us. If you've uninstalled the app, it likely means there is some residual code on your theme that is causing that to populate. 

Do you remember which messenger app you installed from the app store? To me, it looks like the integration offered by Omega here. If you had installed this app previously, I recommend reaching out to their support directly via their app store page to query removing their residual code from your theme.

Hi Cal, the Omega app developers never got back to me. But I found the piece of code that was causing the messenger to stay on my website. When I removed this piece of code it disappeared. I have tested the site and everything seems to be working fine. 

 

Under the layout section >> SWYM_BACKUP_theme.liquid

hello, I have the same problem, mine was installed through the sales channel messenger, I removed it but for some reasons it is still appearing on my website... and it keeps popping up every time someone change pages! can you help?

Hi @gloriouscubs! You should reach out directly to the app developer of the app you installed for the chat feature. They will assist in removing that code from your theme.

I don't know if you ever figured it out @gloriouscubs but I realized I had an app installed called "Automizely" where I had enabled the Facebook Messenger pop up on my website. God knows how many sales I lost with that annoying pop up window! Not to criticize the app- it was fully my fault. Anyway- I turned it off, and it's a huge relief!
