The autofill address feature is good, however it still can be improved.
First it put the subrub into the Apartment field, so I change the filed label to Suburb.
Then I realize it won't update(empty) the suburb field if the autofill address doesn't have a suburb.
Last it would be good to have a option which can make the Suburb, City County, Region and Postal code uneditable.
What's the point of autofilled address if people can still alter these fields incorrectly.

Thank you for reaching out. These fields can be autofilled by either your browser, or pulled from your customer's information after they log in to their customer account. Addresses will be pre-filled into the fields after the customers login. The address filled in will be the last one that the customer used during checkout. You can learn more about enabling customer accounts in our help doc, here: Enabling customer accounts on checkout. You can also use Google's autocomplete feature on your store's checkout. To enable it, view the steps here: Set-up Google Autocomplete.
You are correct about the Apartment field - it will only populate if there was something entered into that field previously. I appreciate that you changed this field to say "Suburb" so that it fits with your store's niche. You can learn more about using the language editor to change how these fields are named, here: Checkout language. You can translate the checkout, add your own checkout language and select another checkout language.
The address fields are made to edit, so that if a customer makes a mistake on their order, they can quickly go back to these fields and change them as needed. At the end of the checkout stage when they are reviewing their order, the customer will also have the option to click on the "Edit" button to edit their address. This is a best practice as this will prevent abandoned checkouts and will save you time from having to correct address mistakes or shipping to the wrong address based on human error.

Hi, I think my second question needs a fix.
e.g. type "123 Albert Street" and select "123 Albert Street, Auckland CBD".
Address2 is autofilled with "Auckland CBD".
Now type in another address "20 Jacinda Close" and choose from the suggestion.
Address2 is still "Auckland CBD" which is not updated because the value is null.
Hi again, @Zihan.
Thank you for clarifying your question and for providing these steps. I followed your instructions on my own test store and I can see that the second address line does stay the same, and does not change when a suggested address is selected in the first address field. I did some digging and this is a feature request that a few of our merchants have, so I am happy to add your name to the list of merchants who are looking to change this feature to "Suburb" in New Zealand and to automatically update it as an address is selected. Our developers are aware of this request and if we move forward with this change, then we will let you and all of our merchants know via our changelog or announcements page.
If you have any other questions or feedback to add, please let me know by replying to this thread. I am happy to help!
I live in Uganda and I have a problem with having the autocomplete feature on my checkout page.
I understand that the address autocomplete feature is not yet available to every user in every country. And that is why I would like to have a Shopify staff/expert help me to add the code that can enable me to have that feature on my checkout page so that I can provide a great customer experience.
People are now used to having the autocomplete ability when putting their address coz most online companies have that enabled and I believe having that feature on my store could dramatically boost my conversions and that is why I'm very concerned about it.
I have contacted Shopify support before and requested for this feature like 2 months ago but didn't see any update from them.
If this is something you can help me on, Kindly email me on Kamalmoha62@gmail.com OR send me your email so that we can get in contact and hopefully find a solution to this.
I also REALLY need help. We are having LOTS of orders with incomplete address in Brazil! Waste time sending emails or having orders that are sent back to us because customer didnt put apartment number. Actually, customer did put address but the autofill address remove the apt number. I have contact the brazilian customer support but they keep telling me that is my customer falt. Very weak customer service from brazilian shopify! I need someone to help me!

You're correct, currently the Google Autocomplete feature is available in several countries, which are listed here: Set up order processing - Google Autocomplete. I appreciate your feedback on this and I can understand that having this feature is important for you and your business. Any edits on checkouts are restricted for security reasons, so there isn't a way to add this feature to your store through a customization.
This is a feature that has been requested by merchants. It sounds like you've requested this before, so I am happy to let our developer team know that you would like to see this feature added to your store. When feedback is received, we do take a look at the number of merchants that request a feature and if we see a high demand for it, we work on adding it to our platform. If this is added, we will announce it to all merchants and on our changelog or announcements page. Please reply to this thread with your myshopify.com URL and I can add your name to the list.
If you would like the option of having customers save their address information so that they can check out faster, I recommend taking a look at enabling Shop Pay on your store. This is an accelerated checkout that allows your customers to save their billing/shipping information, email address and credit card. Check out our help doc to learn how to enable it here: Shop Pay.

I highly appreciate the support you are offering and I understand that you're doing all you can to forward this issue to the Shopify developers.

Kindly update me when the developers have the address autocomplete feature available in my country.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear that about your experience. It sounds like you are looking to make the apartment number field mandatory or have a confirmation for customers to make sure they enter their address in correctly. Is that right?
If it is, I recommend adding a disclaimer to your product pages to advise customers to clearly state their apartment address to ensure that their orders are delivered to the correct address. Check out how to update your product pages in our help doc, here: Product details. You can add this using the rich text editor in your product description. The rich text editor allows you to format your text. I suggest bolding the text so that it stands out to customers.
Another option is to add some language to the address fields at checkout, this can make it easier for customers to be mindful of putting the correct information for their shipping address. You can edit the address field so that it says something like, "Please make sure to add your apartment number here so that we can ship to the correct address." or whichever messaging you would like to add. Check out our help doc on accessing the language editor, here: Changing the wording of your theme.
To edit that area of the checkout, you can follow these steps:
1) Login to your Shopify Admin
2) Under "Sales channels" click on "Online Store > Themes"
3) Click on "Actions" beside the theme you wish to edit, then click on "Edit language"
4) Click on "Checkout and System" and scroll down to the Address fields:
5) You can choose which field you would like to edit by clicking into the box underneath the name of the label, then enter the text you wish to show at checkout
6) Click on the blue "Save" button at the top to save your changes

Thank you for confirming your store URL, @Kamal_Moha.
I have added your name to our list of feedback. If we do move forward with this request, you will be notified through the Shopify admin, and we will post this in our changelog or announcements page for all our merchants to be aware of, as I mentioned in my previous post.
If you have any questions, please reply to this thread and I would be happy to help.
