Deleting collections

I'm cleaning up my collections and it occurred to me that I may not want to in case they have a Pinterest Pins which will then direct to a 404 page.

I'm just overwhelmed with all my old collections and would prefer to delete them. There is probably not a lot of times that people would end up on an old page but it's possible.

I also want to archive some old/ugly products but again, I don't want to hurt my shop if I get 404 - if that's even true that it will hurt my shop.

Any insight?

If you want to delete collections on your Shopify store, please take a look at this article: https://avada.io/shopify/docs/how-to-delete-a-collection-on-shopify.html

However, please remember that the collections you have already deleted will be removed permanently from your Shopify admin. Without deleting them, you can hide the collection from a sales channel.

Hey @lisapineau,

You can add a 301 redirect from your deleted collections or archived products to ensure that users won't come across a 404 Error from a backlink.

Shopify has an article in their help center on how to do that: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-store/os/menus-and-links/url-redirect 

Just go through this process for all collections/products that you are deleting or archiving and you should be good to go!
