Currently, I am on Etsy. I'm very displeased with my lack of sales and traffic. A couple years ago, I was very successful with very minimal social media. Etsy's fees are going up, but their ability to bring in customers has gone down. As well, their website design has become very unfriendly to store owners.
I have been considering trying out Shopify; however, I do not know if Shopify puts any effort into driving SEO or customers onto their platform, or if owners are completely on their own. I was hoping to hear from people who are currently using Shopify and have knowledge of the way it works.
Thank you for your time!
Sorry, shopify is just a platform for creating your own store. They do not drive any traffic. You have to do your own SEO, advertising, etc to drive traffic. They do seem to have a good set of tools for this.
I'm currently (slowly!) setting up my store from Etsy as well. I'm hoping that once I have the website established with Shopify, it will allow me to sell on other channels (such as ebay) more easily. FYI - depending on your number of products, copying all the product listings to shopify can be very time consuming, even with an import app.

Shopify integrates with Amazon (if you're in the US and Canada), as well they have support for Pinterest, Facebook, and Instagram. They're not currently listing eBay as a sales channel though, unfortunately.
