Hello, I have been signed up with Bluehost for a few years for domain web hosting but am concerned about the money I pay out (I guess today because we will have a large vets bill as our 18 year old cat needs teeth extracting!). Must admit not fully technie so looking for an alternative, such as GoDaddy?
Shopify does not require any additional hosting. It comes with the package (except Shopify Lite). What you need to pay for is the domain name if you what one, usually under 10$ per year for a .com.
I use Goaddy, not sure you can get a domain name under $10.
Good luck with the cat!
Christine here from the Shopify Guru team - thanks for your question.
Shopify offers domain hosting :). You can purchase a custom domain for your store directly in the domain settings of your admin. Here is more information on how you can purchase your domain through your Shopify store: https://help.shopify.com/manual/domains/shopify-domains
Hope that helps! Let us know if you need anything else. We are just a click away :)
I'm still confused! What I have been paying Bluehost for is web hosting at $24.99 a month (except that I pay for the year and in British pounds), plus domain name registration at $15.99 per year and SiteLock Domain Security at $23.88 per year.
So have I been a dumb blonde and paying Bluehost and Shopify?!
Just remember that your emails may actually be hosted at Bluehost. Emails are not hosted on Shopify, the website is.

Hey there, I hope you have figured out your issue until now, but I still think this info might be useful for someone out there that faces the exact problem. I was in the same trap, so I know how it all feels. I thew myself headfirst in a deal that I made no research on prior to agreeing to it, so you can imagine it was not a perfect deal by any means. After a few arguments, I decided it was time to look for a new hosting service, doing actual research this time. I read lots of articles and tops and asked friends that know more about this than me, but what I found to be the most useful was 28Msec which offers comparisons between different hosting services out there. Hope I was able to help a bit.
