Hello , i,ve been looking for answers to this for about 2 days , we have a store with a registered business in Germany , we got the vat number , now i want to charge VAT on EU countries but it seems that i need a separate vat number for each EU countries , how do i deal with this or is there something i,am missing , thank you in advance
Hi @ultra23,
It's been quite a while since you posted this and you might have figured this out already, but I am happy to share my insight.
If your annual sales to a certain country exceed their VAT threshold, you will need to register for a local VAT registration number and then charge the VAT rate of the customer's country. VAT thresholds vary from state to state and are typically around €35,000 or €100,000 per year. Non-Eurozone countries will have a threshold in their local currency.
You can find more details in our VAT guide for Shopify stores in the EU, I hope it will help!
