Email double opt in confusion

I want to send an email with a discount code when a user subscribes to my newsletter. now the only way to do it is by enabling double opt-in. Question is, If I enable double opt in, will emails that would normally get sent to the customer without enabling double opt in, now also require that the user agrees to be sent emails in order to work? I'm talking about emails such as for the tracking number, confirmation of purchase and abandoned cart, which would normally not require double opt in.
