Export products: missing QTY

This has been a problem for at least a month. I perform regular exports of all my products and use that for offline reporting. Over the last month, I've noticed the exports are missing the QTY field.

From Aug 2018 and going back at least 2 years, this was column Q titled "Variant Inventory Qty". Since about a month ago, the export all has been exporting only 45 columns instead of 46 and is missing "Variant Inventory Qty."

Please help.

Hi, Tom!

I suppose that might be because Shopify has moved to Multi-Location inventory tracking, so there is no "one" quantity anymore but quantities across multiple locations.

One solution I can offer is in the Excelify app: https://apps.shopify.com/excel-export-import

It will export and import "Variant Inventory Qty" in the old way (when importing, will set that quantity for your main location). In addition to that, when you check the box at the export to include also the multi-location quantities, it will add columns with quantity for each location. You can export and import those location quantities.

Even if the issue is Shopify introduced multi-region locations, that information should still be in the full export. The full product export today is missing one field. If the export contained multi-region locations then there would be multiple fields included in the export (one for each location).

It has to be a bug.

$50/month is a bit steep IMHO. All I need is a working Shopify full export and all my reports are automated from there.

Sorry to disappoint you - it was intended as a helping message to solve your issue.

Let's hope it is a bug indeed and will be fixed soon.

I've seen Excelify's spammy posts all over the forums for awhile. I know the game. At least allow the demo to export more than 20 rows.

I suppose, this is what you get occasionally when helping people solve their issues, and tell them that you made a solution for them (from the purest heart).

Some (you) just don't need that. And that's ok. Nobody forces you to do anything.

Tom,

have you found a solution to this problem with Shopify Variant Inventory Qty bug that they are having?

I'm pretty sure it is a bug since QTY is an important field. 

would love to know what your solution is since I use the CSV file quite heavily.

Hmm...that is odd that they would remove that.

I just did a product export on one of our test stores (Partner store) and the "Variant Inventory Qty" field is still there for me.

This does seem like a bug and maybe it's fixed now?

On the API side, even with the new multi-location feature and the new Inventory endpoints, the `inventory_quantity` field on the Variant API is still available but is read-only. It's basically the total inventory quantity across all locations.
