All things Shopify and commerce
Trying to add a FB pixel to my online store, and according to every how-to guide (including the ones on Facebook and Shopify) I should be able to paste my pixel ID into a field on the preferences tab of the Online Store sales channel.
BUT all I can see is this invitation to 'Set up Facebook', which then basically tries to ask for the mega list of permissions. I just want to install the pixel!!
Can't see any updated documentation from Salesforce to explain this change - but is this the only way to add a pixel now?

Hi, you need to add the new channel for Facebook. This will have the option to add your pixel once you complete it.
Anyone? Surely this either full feature change that should be documented, or it's something very unusual?

I total feel your pain. After spending close to 600 dollars out of pocket so far on courses to bandsoffads, now that I'm trying to track my ads conversion, I have no way of knowing if the automatic setup tracks this data or if im missing something when it comes to install the pixel. What ever the case, I dont see the option to past if either and its worrying as a new dropshipper. I only want to promote products that make me money, my store is general so having one pixel across multiple interest is not helping me.

yea but this new change is total dogshit. Mabye its good for someone who runs 1 shop with 1 ad account.. But for people with multiple Stores Pixels and ad accounts it simply sucks... @Shopify just get us the old pixel ID input back thanks
I'm having this same problem. How do I install my pixel ID? It's not giving me the option to paste the code.
Looking for some help - I wanted to install a new pixel, so I added the new pixel code in the theme file. But I see that there is another older pixel being fired. This old pixel neither exists in the preferences tab (because we have a facebook set up option), nor is it there in the theme file. How do I get rid of it?
Same problem here! Did you succeed with that?
Nope no resolution - just had to go through the new process to set up the FB channel including adding all the permissions.
On the slightly positive side, at least Shopify seems to have updated their online documentation to reflect this new requirement (documentation hadn't been updated at the time of my original message). https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/promoting-marketing/analyze-marketing/facebook-pixel
Just realized that they say this "To use a Facebook pixel, you need to set a customer data-sharing level. Levels can be set at Standard, Enhanced, or Maximum. " and mine is turned off. Might be the issue here! Going to update asap and will report back. I believe it's a new thing. Didn't have the issue 2 days ago!
I faced the same problem and could not get around it. Have emailed Shopify support but no reply yet. I am faced with "Set Up Facebook" box and everytime I click on it, gives an error screen. Tried many times but could not pass this error screen. I have set everything accordingly on the Facebook side i.e Business Page account already running, Facebook Ad account, Facebook pixel id ready etc. I am assuming the problem is with Shopify. Please advise what else to do.
Hi
