Hi all, I'm trying to collect phone numbers for marketing so I have the marketing checkbox on the checkout page preselected. Is this legal to do when it comes to GDPR?
Also currently my checkout page asks for mobile or email for the contact info (see attached image). Is there any way of making this so it asks for both mobile and email or if the customer enters their email, keeps the marketing checkbox selected and also puts their phone number at the bottom (as in attachment) can I then send them emails & sms updates? Or is the marketing checkbox only taking into account the email or mobile box above it?
I'm not sure about countries other than the US but in the US, you're not allowed to pre-check the checkbox that opts users in for SMS/Text Marketing. If you're worried people won't click the checkbox, then give them an incentive to enroll either on your checkout page or somewhere else e.g. Get 10% off by texting a certain code to your number and get the opt-in that way. Hope this helps.
