Google Merchant Center account does not connect (not showing up)

Hi,

I'm using the Google Channel made available by Shopify. I have connected my Google account and have checked all the store requirements. So naturally I want to connect my Google Merchant center, but I can't. I'm using a Merchant center multi-client account, but that doesn't seem the problem because if I add a second sub account, that account does show up. However, I want to connect the Google Merchant account that I have used before. How can I connect my Google Merchant center to Shopify Channel?

Furthermore my accounts connected to my MCC Google Ads account also doesn't show in the dropdown menu. Only my second 'normal' Google Ads account. How can I connect a sub MCC Google Ads account?

See screenshot for confirmation.

This is an accepted solution.

Thanks for helping Emmanuel. I got it solved by connecting a Google account that has both admin privileges to Google Merchant center and Google Ads.

It has to be an admin account, not an mcc or multi client account.

Hey Arjan, I'm facing the same problem, did you manage to connect your subaacounts in a mcc?

Posting on old topics, will not be helpful, this thread is 3 years old. You have also asked similar questions on other threads. If you want a solution, I recommend you create a new thread, detailing your specific issues, screenshots etc. Otherwise it will be hard for you to resolve an issue.

Irrelevant how old this thread is imho, because the issue is still alive.
This is how I solved the unavailability of MC subaccounts in shopify admin Google & YT app

Digeo_0-1712052034375.png

Create a user in MC subaccount under Tools > Account access and give the user Admin rights.

Link this user also as Manager to your Shopify store (max 2 additional allowed)

Go back to your Google&YT app and relink to this user's Google account (unlink yourself first then relink to new user)

Complete the MC questionnaire, et voila your MC subaccount now appears in the dropdown list.

PS. If you also linked Google Analytics and/or Google Ads, you need to relink them to.

I suggest new threads for specific issues because old replies tend to be confusing and irrelevant. For example, the previous replies I provided have long not been correct or have not provided a solution.

I have already, for a while, explained on new topics that you had to change the email address for the sub-account if you wanted to access it when using the Google and YouTube apps.

It's just to avoid confusion and have new threads with correct info, within the first reply, should rank higher in Google Search than old threads with lots of replies that are not helpful. That is just my personal opinion of course.

How many times, if I am searching for a solution, there are tons of old irrelevant replies that make me spend more time finding different threads for correct info? So multiple reasons why I just prefer new threads, over old threads.

Anyways, glad you also found the solution regarding how to link multiple GMC accounts.

hey @EmmanuelFlossie,

Having Multiple Google Ad accounts from Different gmails is a violation?

If Yes, How to have google ad account for multiple stores?

Not, if the intention is to target different countries, with different TLDs.

Just use 1 Google Ads account, but you can have multiple GMC accounts, or 1 Advanced GMC account with subaccounts, for the purpose of targeting different countries when using different TLDs

I have 3 Shopify Stores, So Each of them is connected with different google accounts. Like this

Ex: For the 1st store: 1@gmail.com with a GMC and Google Ad account

For the 2nd store: 2@gmail.com with a GMC and Google Ad account

For the 3rd store: 3@gmail.com with a GMC and Google Ad account

Each of them has a separate GMC and Google Ad Account. Is it okay? My Google Ad account was suspended on my third store, now they saying they cant give it back, I also cant find the reason. GMC was suspended for misrepresentation, It was also fixed.

Hi Emmanuel,

Maybe we should post less discussions on the way of working in this community through issue thread, and focus on the problem itself.

So people don't have to scroll through rubbish either.
Imho I think older replies, that might be outdated and no longer working, are still relevant to know the history.
Hence, thanks to a similar 4 years old thread, I found a solutions for another issue based on a reply that was 3.5 years old.
You know, Shopify is also manned by humans that make mistakes and change their mind about simple solutions like allowing stock policy  update through regular product csv imports... especially when your product master is on another CMS.
About Google ranking: This thread with a lot of activity, and also the one from the other issue mentioned above, popped up first in my Google Search results 🤔
So I'm not really in favour of opening new threads in a public community.

In a devops organisation following Agile sprint methodology, I'm 100% in favour on the other hand 👍
And yes I'm indeed glad to have found a solution based on legacy experiences in 1 thread! 🙂
