A long time ago, we enabled Google Wallet in the Payments section of our store admin. It worked fine for a while, and then the Google Wallet option disappeared from the admin, but apparently it became a built-in feature, and the button was still there. After a while, though, the button disappeared, and it hasn't worked since.
Has the Google Wallet paymant option been removed, or is there something wrong with our store?
Earlier this year, Google announced Android Pay and that they shut down Google Wallet in favour of this. Unfortunately it isn't an available payment option as of January 1st, 2016 and may have been phased out of your store at this time.
You can read about it here- https://support.google.com/payments/merchant/answer/6107573?hl=en
I hope this helps!
That page says that they retired Google Wallet for digital goods, but they still support it for physical goods.
Please note: This only applies to web developers accepting payments for digital goods on their own websites using the Google Wallet for digital goods API. It does not affect our other Wallet offerings and partnerships, including but not limited to:
- Instant Buy: Web and app payments for physical goods and services
This is a great point, however it is speaking about the google wallet API which would have been used to integrate this feature into Shopify.. if you click on the link in the google doc it redirects to the Android app right away now instead:
