Google checkout sandbox

Hi! Firstly, I'm having so much fun setting up my client's site in Shopify. You guys are doing a great job with this app. For testing Google Checkout, I've setup a Google Checkout sandbox account (well, two actually, one for seller and one for buyer) as they specify in their API documentation. However, I can't get it to work with Shopify. I've gone to the preferences and entered my new Google Vendor ID, and my Google merchant key, and gone to the Google integration page and entered my Shopify API callback URL, but when I try to checkout with Google Checkout I get the following error: Google's response was not valid. 500 Your patented Google mind reader senses that this means that your account credentials were not correct. I've tried both the XML and HTML options in Google, but same response either way. Can you help me get this working? Thanks, Michael

Right now Shopify always uses the production Google Checkout URL. This means that your Sandbox credentials are not valid in the production environment. Tobi is the Google Checkout guru, so he’ll know better than I if we can easily enhance Google Checkout to support entering sandbox mode in Shopify.

Cody is right, Shopify always talks with the production environment of google checkout.

Unfortunately we don’t allow access to their test environment right now.

OK, any advice on how I can test the process of using Google Checkout with Shopify? I can’t convince my client to go live with a site without them actually seeing how it’s going to work.

Google checkout currently doesn’t charge anything on transactions. Use a working credit card, checkout and charge the order.

In Shopify go to account → find the transaction and dispute the charge as a test order.

Doesn’t cost you anything.

Note: The google account must be different than the merchants.

Dan, OK, that seems like a pretty good workaround. Google doesn’t ding me in any way for the the disputed charge?

They shouldn’t. Or use your credit card or better yet, a check card. then have your client pay you back.
