How is your shopify bill paid? What happens after trail?

I wouldn't need shopify every month. Only off and on. Is the bill paid manually each month via cc or is your cc charged?

What happens the months I don't pay. Would I still have access to the admin section with my settings and products retained?

Hey Stacy,

Your Shopify bill gets charged automatically to the credit card on file each month. If you're unable to pay - for example, if your credit card doesn't have sufficient funds - the system will attempt to make payment again a few days later.

Ultimately, if the bill doesn't get paid, your store gets frozen and you will need to pay the outstanding invoice before being able to reactivate it.

Shopify guarantees to keep your store's data safe for up to 30 days after closing or being frozen, so as long as you're not going many months in between closing and opening the store, you should be good to go. It usually takes upwards of a year before your data is actually purged - but I can't promise it will always be like that, so it's best to move to the Paused Plan which is $14/month if you're not planning on selling - that way, your data is 100% kept secure, and people can actually still visit your site and browse products (they just can't purchase anything).

Hope this helps,

Now that my trail just ended, the basic package is $78 not $30 something.

That's the middle plan. The Basic plan is $29 and the Advanced is $299.

Is it a extra fee charged on top of the $30.00 basic plan when shopify can not get the payment off the credit card?

Hello,
If my billing cycle is 18/1/2020 and if I did not pay the amount to shopify, and pay after 15 days than from which day I charged for my plan whether from 18/1/2020 or after 15 days from 1/2/2020. What is my billing cycle in that conditions.
Thanks in advance

Hello, @Mohitpatidar.

I’m Helen from Shopify Support. Great question!

If your invoice payment does not go through on your billing date, then payment will automatically attempt to be collected 2 more times in approximately 2 day increments. If the payment fails on the third and final attempt, then your store will become ‘frozen’.

If you reactivate within the same billing cycle (up to 30 days from the initial billing date of your most recent invoice), then you will need to pay your outstanding invoice, but no new invoice will be issued on the reactivation date. Your next payment will resume on your regular billing cycle.

Reactivating after the original billing cycle has ended (30 days to one year after your billing date), will require that you pay the outstanding fees on the account, but again no new invoice will be issued. However, your billing cycle will only be 21 days long upon reactivation, after which time you will be invoiced, and a new billing cycle will begin.

Lastly, if it has been a year or longer since your store became frozen, reactivating the account will require 2 payments: one for the outstanding invoice, and one for the subscription charge that begins a new billing cycle on the day of reactivation.

For more information on managing your bill, please take a look at this Help Doc.

Hope this makes sense. Let me know if you require any further explanation.
