How to Bulk Edit Product Description?

I recently imported all of my ebay listings and in every product description we have "etc etc etc", how would I go about bulk deleting that line of text?

Hey there!

Sam here with the Shopify Team!

The only method to edit your Product Descriptions in bulk would require exporting your Products as a CSV File. From here, you can change the description of each product in the third column "Body (HTML)" and when completed, you can Import the CSV back into Shopify and overwrite your current Products!

Hi Shopify / Shopify Users,

Using the bulk CSV upload is it possible to only update certain fields?

For example if all you want changed is the product description can you just have say the handle and the product description fields filled in and leave others blank or use some character to tell the system to ignore that field?

Having this ability would be greate whereby bulk editing for just certain fields would help.

We have an issue where we need a a few different URL's in about 600 product descriptions changed.

Just cautious in uploading every single data field for something that effects only one field.

Any thoughts?

Hello,

I think our Bulk Product Editor app might be able both in both cases:

Removing/bulk editing descriptions - You can use the app to do a search and replace against multiple products. By setting the replace value to a single space you can effectively remove text from many descriptions at once.

Editing a single field with a CSV - The app also supports editing products via CSV/Excel file. Your spreadsheet just needs two columns, one to identify products (by SKU, handle, name etc..) and one with the new value

Hey!

You can bulk edit Description field (or any other field, or combinations of fields or Metafields for that matter) by using our Bulk Import Export Update with Excel app.

With that solution of editing the description in the csv and then uploading it will it upset anything else that is not changed. I'm worried about the pictures for example on the product.

Just use the app recommended (Bulk Product Editor app). I used it and it worked. It also saved me a tone because I had to modify over 130 products. Have a nice day.
