How to block all product pages within one collection from being indexed?

I've set up a separate wholesale collection which can only be accessed by appropriately tagged customers. Using Shopify's instructions  I've blocked the collection from robots.txt. When I test the live url on Google Search Console, it is not available. However, the products within the collection are still available to be indexed. Each product handle ends with '-wholesale' but that doesn't seem to be sufficient for blocking.

I'm using a product template  - something like product.wholesale.liquid. Is there something I can add to that to block all products using that template?

So, I found this article which briefly goes over 3 options for blocking pages. The metafields option seems most suitable so I've downloaded Metafields Guru and now I just have to figure out what metafields and keys and namepaces are etc.:)
