How to limit storefront Search to certain products only?

I would like to enable my customers to search within my store (products, pages, posts) but I don't want them to have access to all my products as some are only used for certain promotions. Is there a way to tag the products that I want to be searchable and to limit the search to these?

Are these 'promotional products' meant to be available for purchase at all, or are they just listed in your store inventory for tracking purposes?

If you don't want them to be visible/available for purchase at all, you can just set them to not be available in online store on the product setup page.

I want these products to be available but only when you have the direct link to their product page. They are just not linked directly in my storefront menu.
