Inventory management for food made in batches

Let's say I make ice cream. And each week we make 10 quarts of ice cream, but we want to offer customers the option to purchase in pints and quarts. 2 pints = 1 quart. 

Looking at the way variants are handled on the site it looks like I would have to set inventory for the quarts and pints separately. 

On square (which was horrible) I could set my inventory at 10 quarts and then if a pint was sold, i would have 9 quarts and 1 pint remaining, or 9.5 quarts.
