Hello everyone:)
Friend of mine has launched a shop for his business and asked me about cleaning it up. (Just do some SEO work). And because shopify is rather not popular solution for e-commerce CMS in my country, I have never had contact with this platform. As I have seen it's distributed in SaaS model so my question is:

Can I modify .htaccess file and robots.txt file on my shopify webiste?

No. You cannot. They do not exist. robots.txt is generated automatically and there is probably no need to allow end-user editing of it. As for SEO work, you can easily write titles and descriptions in Shopify, render whatever canonical links you want, and even provide mass 302 redirects.

Hello, thank you for your quick reply. What I wanted to do was blocking robots of Yandex, Baidu and other ones. How about changing URL titles? For example:
domain.com/pages/about-us and insted of it something like:
domain.com/[about us in my language]

I have URL where midsection is in English and new added category is in proper language which looks like this:  ~/collections/[kategory in my language]

Is it possible to fix this?

It doesn't look like you've pointed the root domain to shopify in any case. Once you've set the primary domain you've got the option to redirect to it.

When I got to the root domain url I just see an error so there's more you need to do on the domain host side. Some info here:

I jump on these forums to help and share some insights. Not looking to be hired, and not looking for work.

Don't hand out staff invites or give admin password to forum members unless absolutely needed. In most cases the help you need can be handled without that.

My IP address and CName records both correct as suggested by Shopify. I have also added the root domain as the primary domain.

Hello!

As of today, June 21st, 2021, we have launched the ability to edit the robot.txt file to give merchants more control over the information that is crawled by search engines. You can learn more about how to edit your robot.txt file through our community post here

Due to the age of the topic, I will be locking this thread. If you have any questions about the new feature, please do not hesitate to create a new post under our "Techincal QA" board.
