Refund orders that are fulfilled vs unfulfilled

Hi, 

I have looked up how to refund orders but i can only see the option for orders that are unfulfilled. I want to be able to refund orders that have been fulfilled. Can you suggest how to do that?

Also, when I cancel an order, does it automatically processes the refund?

You can refund fulfilled orders, it's the same process. I wonder if you're unable to because the order is too old or something.

When you cancel an order, it will prompt you to refund.

You can test stuff like this out by creating a test order (Draft Order) then playing around with.

I only see the "refund" option for today's orders only. It doesn't come up for orders from yesterday. When you have a product recall for example and want to refund customer who purchased that product a month ago, you should really be able to still have a refund option, right?

That's strange, sounds like an  issue unique to your store. In that case I would contact Shopify support to see why you aren't able to refund orders like normal.
