Required Address Line 2 Not giving Error Message

If the customer does not fill out the address line 2 (when required in setup)  It's not giving an error  it's just bouncing the page back up to that area.   And furthermore when it's an edit to an order, it doesn't allow you to change the address in the checkout process.  Both of these issues are a big problem and will surely cause a customer to abandon.  This needs to be fixed but there's no feedback forum :0( so I hope someone from shopify actually reads these forums.  But in the meantime, does anyone know a work around?
