So I am from Sri Lanka, the country from where true cinnamon originates. I am plannig to start an online store to sell solely Ceylon cinnamon sticks and Ceylon cinnamon powder.
To elaborate a bit about the industry, there are 2 main varieties of cinnamon, Ceylon and Cassia. Ceylon cinnamon originates only from Sri Lanka (Sri Lanka was earlier called as Ceylon and thus, this variety is named Ceylon cinnamon) and it is the healthier and tastier variety. Cassia cinnamon is mainly from China and it can be toxic to the liver due to a component called coumarin in it.
In the UK and many other countries Ceylon cinnamon is prevalent but unfortunately in the USA and Canada, Cassia is more common than Ceylon.
I am planning to sell fresh, organic Ceylon cinnamon directly from Sri Lanka and my business concept is centered around the above story. My target market is the USA and Canada, and I'm targeting those who already love cinnamon.
