Setting Maximum Daily Stock Limits

Bit of an odd question it seems but I couldn't find a good solution in the Shopify help yet.

By way of disclaimer, I'm new to Shopify so this might be a totally stupid question.

We are a small artisan bakery specialising in 'free-from' baked goods, i.e. gluten, dairy, egg, peanut-free, etc. We currently have a small manageable product range 6-7 (plus some variations of them) and are limited by how much we can make each day.

For argument's sake, let's say we can only make 150 brownies & 200 oat blueberry cookies each day, every day. So my inventory would be dependent on 150 brownies & 200 cookies for each day, rather than a total global? There might even be a specific term for it, which I'm not aware of but it strikes me that Shopify's built-in inventory manager only allows "global" stock levels which are based on the assumption I buy products in to sell them on.

I know there is an 'allow to order when out of stock' but that would mean we could end up with daily order volumes which are simply unable to meet.

Any pointers and thoughts greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Frank

Hey, Frank!

Savannah here from the Shopify Guru Team. Welcome to Shopify!

I think you're asking if there's a way to set a stock limit that resets daily, instead of an overall total inventory limit that you would have to manually reset each day. Is that right? If so, there's no way to do that within the admin quite yet. That said, I think you could use Bulk Product Edit, an app that allows you to schedule events for your products, including stock updates to schedule the stock to return to your limit daily. Take a look and let me know if it seems to fit your needs. A restock timer is not a feature that I have personally considered before, but I think it might be helpful to a lot of merchants!

All the best,

Hi, I have similar requirements but I would also like to be able to allow orders in advance.

Assuming we have a production limit for 100 items of a product in a given day but we would also like to take orders for tomorrow and day after, how do we achieve this in shopify? Or is there any Apps that can do this for us? Please recommend, thanks

Hey, Edward!

I think you'd be best to go with a pre-order app for that. I'd recommend checking out:

Let me know if either of those do the trick, or if you need something a bit more robust!

Hi Savannah,

Not a pre-order scenario I'm going for here.

Assume I can bake 10 chocolate cakes daily, I would like my customers to be able to buy up to 10 chocolate cakes every day. I will have a date picker on the order form for the customer to select and choose the delivery date, so assuming if I had sold out 10 cakes by morning, I would still be allowing customers to buy for tomorrow, day after, so on, up to 14 days.

How do I achieve that?

I've also tried an app called BookThatApp, but its not easily configurable for this purpose.

I'm also facing this roadblock currently, can anyone help with a solution?

Thanks!

Hello,

Same question - is there any update or app for this? I need to limit one product (Rainbow Bagels) to 20 sales daily - the Available Quantity number should reset to 20 available every 24 hours.

Anyone have an app or solution for this?

thank you,

Rob
