Guys.. it should not be down to you to stop your domains being used to send spam from spam accounts.
You pay for this software!!! It's something Shopify should solve.
If you want Shopify to solve it I'm afraid, from experience, your only hope is to make an almighty fuss.

@Julie
It would be good if someone from Shopify actually commented here. I have 3 sites, all with this problem. I am looking at other platforms. SHOPIFY, YOU WILL LOSE REVENUE FROM ME AND ANYONE I TALK TO ABOUT WHAT SYSTEM THEY SHOULD USE.

One person even replied to the account creation email today saying
"This account was set up fraudulently, please cancel any request/sales/accounts associated with this email address. The police have been contacted and an investigation has been opened."

Do I think this is the case, no, but fix it.

@Steve82
I've had the same Steve... angry people emailing me saying 'stop spamming me from your store'. It only takes a few of these to flag these account creation emails as spam for your domain to get blacklisted and then ALL your emails will go into spam.. marketing emails... order received emails... order shipped emails.. etc etc.
People don't seem to realise how serious this issue is.

Thanks Julie. I was going to ask the same question but saw this post.

This isn't a problem connected, solely, to Shopify. I have just opened a Shopify account as I was getting these same spam sign ups with my last webhosting company. I have just today, about a week after going live with my Shopify shop, started getting them on Shopify. It's been very frustrating for me over the last 2 or 3 months as I have been getting about 20+ of these spam sign ups a day.

I am glad that the spammers have moved on from your store, I hope it means that there is a fix being rolled out. At present I still have ongoing problems and no communicated solution from Shopify.

I spoke too soon. Got one today.

I've decided on something that might at least help with the complaints about spam. I inserted the following into my account welcome email:

If you did not sign up for this account our apologies. Online stores have been experiencing a flood of bogus account sign ups using nonsense names and real email accounts. The motives of those creating these accounts are not clear but we suggest you change your email password

@Jim_Harger1 can you tell me where you put the following into your welcome email please? I would like to put it into mine as I've had this problem when with my previous webhosting company for the last month or two before coming across to Shopify in the last week or so. I'm just a fairly new business:

Thanks so much. Robyn

Add my company and 3 Stores and counting to the list please.

If its an API flaw then @ShopifySuport need to fix this.

It is hurting reputation and impacting Mailchimp tasks.

An update from shopify support would be helpful at this stage.

I placed this at the very end of the Customer Account Welcome notice. I've added a color call out and made it bold since first mentioned. Here is the before and after code so you can see were it is inserted.
