Ever since the Https switch I no longer get order notifications. I contacted support and their advice wasn't helpful in the least. Telling me to have my provider Whitelist but if my provider is Godaddy and Shopify was already whitelisted am I stuck guessing when I have an order?
I'm going to try to switch back to non ssl.
This may or may not apply to you, but keep this in mind when switching to SSL and pushing a feed to Google Merchant Center... we have seen merchants now get disapproved on their images because the feed has been putting http on the images, and when redirecting to your store, when SSL in enabled, it will automatically switch to Https in the url... however Google Bots see this as an error and may give an invalid image. It doesn't seem to happen to all merchants, just sometimes. I am not sure if it is because of the url that you have verified and claimed is http and not https (it really shouldn't matter, but when things change anything is possible). Just something to keep in mind.
As always, we can help you with feed mistakes, just check out our Shopify App at
Hey Tbonus, we recently switched to https and noticed some drop in our rankings at Bikini Luxe as an example words like Brazilian Bikini dropped from 9th place to 30th place. Hoping that it is just a temporary drop. Did a fetch and render and have
All being tracked in the Google search console.
Does anyone know if there is any benefit to using something like screaming frog to create a sitemap for a Shopify website? Is it even possible to use the data without doing a 301 redirect as explained above? Pros and Cons?
When the SSL option first came out we tried to activate it for our site and got a report saying that there were around 70 pages with both secure and insecure content, the majority of which related to links to our mailing list sign up pages on mailchimp.
Essentially while mailchimp don't officially offer an https version of the sign up form, there is an alternate mailchimp url on a secure server that will work in our case we replaced a 2 in the url with a 1. There was also a small tweak required in an embedded copy of the sign up form on our shopify site, this simply require the removal of a mailchimp logo at the bottom of the form which we did on the mailchimp list settings.
Having resolved the mailchimp url problem we got around to looking at the Shopify Themes to update the links - turns out that the majority of the error came from the link in footer. One quick change to the footer resolved about 95% of the errors. The remaining handful of errors were pretty easy to fix, and the site was using ssl within about half an hour.
With the SSL enabled, the Applepay facility which we'd also signed up for also came online. We have already processed our first orders for customers using Applepay, so while 70 errors looked like it wuld take a while to sort out it was well worth sticking with it and resolving the bugs to get it running.
We switched to SSL a few months back, we have noticed a huge drop in traffic and orders. Not only that all of our backlinks to products and collections in our shopify blog now lead to 404 pages!! it is a complete disaster. :-(
Our business was paying our mortgage now we are scrabbling around panicking wondering what the hell to do to fix the issue and get the traffic and orders coming back in, its like our site has fallen off the internet?!?
Hi Charles, has this situation gotten better for you? I think you could remedy it pretty easily by using your sitemap to find all the URLs in your store and creating redirects for each URL from http:// to https:// versions of the URL. There are paid apps for adding bulk redirects and fixing 404 errors in real time, but there's also a free Chrome plug-in that you can use to bulk upload redirects in the form of a .csv file. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/shopify-bulk-301/hgcdpjpmlegfhdladniefnbbpgoombkn/
Can someone help me with this issue...
Hope all is well. I need help customizing my current theme which is VENTURE. I like some of the features ICON theme has, example: the parallax image section, connect with us section directly on the homepage (not footer), follow us on Instagram and the drawer cart feature. I will really appreciate it if someone can give a detailed directions on how to do this. Also on my venture theme, I noticed that almost all the additional sections aren't click able; example: LOGO LIST, IMAGE WITH TEST and finally, the MULTIPLE LINK BLOCKS size would prefer it to be square instead of rectangle.
I know I am asking for a lot, but I feel this is what I need for my website. Thanks in advance
