Shopify status RSS feed

Hello,

 

we used to check the RSS feed https://status.shopify.com/history.rss to be notified of incidents.

 

This RSS feed is still linked by https://status.shopify.com/ but it returns the following message

  "This feed is currently inactive or private"

 

Is there any alternative to be aware of incidents without having to check https://status.shopify.com/ manually?

Nick here from Shopify. 

 

I took a quick look at the page you referenced and it seems to be working ok for me on my end as per the screenshot below:

Can you double-check if you have any ad blockers turned on maybe? Could you also let me know what device and web browser you are using, please? If you could also take a screenshot and send it in a reply to me here as it will help me troubleshoot and understand what might be going on exactly. 

 

This would be the primary way to make anyone aware of any status updates for Shopify. Just to confirm it's the link here - https://status.shopify.com/

thanks for your response.

 

I was not referring to Status Page itself but to the RSS feed for the Shopify Status, which used to be available at https://status.shopify.com/history.rss and indeed is still referenced in the Status Page meta information.

Ah ok, I get you now @Jose_Samper.

 

This feature was removed in the latest update to the status page. Currently, the only option is to visit status.shopify.com directly. We may reintroduce this feature in the future, but there is no guarantee. I can forward this to our development team as a feature request on your behalf to re-introduce it for you if you'd like? Just let me know!

Yes, we would be grateful if you could add that feature request.

 

Any way of checking the status automatically (versus having to check the page manually) would help us a lot.

 

Statuspage.io, the service used by the Shopify Status page, has the option to enable notifications via RSS, SMS, email or webhooks (https://www.statuspage.io/features/notifications), which is very convenient to be aware of any incident and act in consequence.

I can completely see where you're coming from and have put this feature request through for you. In the meantime, the best thing I can suggest is to bookmark the Shopify Status page in your browser to make it easier to access and right there when you need it.

It looks like Shopify may have moved away from using statuspage which would explain the missing RSS feed.  It would be super nice to get this back since we link to the Shopify platform status on our own status page (which is also hosted on statuspage.io).

 

Can you confirm Nick that the status page is now a Shopify created tool rather than using statuspage.io?  It looks very nice, just needs the RSS feed to hook into other status pages or Slack.

Why on earth would this feature be removed? We fetch the status page rss feeds for multiple providers via a Slack integration so that we get pro-actively alerted to all issues in one place. That's what rss is for..

I also found this while searching around to see why our alerts had stopped:

 

"As part of this update, status subscription options (SMS alerts and RSS feed) have been removed."

Check your store’s status on the updated Shopify status page
