Specifying Checkout Type In Button

This may have been answered elsewhere but a search didn't reveal anything. In a situation where only Google Checkout will be used on a store, do you see any problems with using the following on the checkout form button in the cart to bypass the redundant "choose checkout" page?
<form method="POST" action="/checkout?use=replacement">
Likewise, using ?use=direct for the standard checkout, etc.

I remember that i investigated this possibility at some point… There was something preventing it from working. Is this something you need? Don’t forget that google checkout has the tendency to send nasty emails to merchants who use google checkout without displaying the google checkout logo at one point. This is why we don’t skip the gateway selection page even if google checkout is the only option.

I would like to skip the extra step as well, as my client is only going to use Google Checkout. Maybe if I integrated the logo into the checkout button from the cart?

See http://danielacorte.com for a live example. However, as Tobi mentioned, you’ll want to display the Google Checkout logo wherever your checkout link is to meet Google Checkout’s requirements.

Thanks. I’m just looking into it because for a store that only uses one type of checkout, that gateway selection page is redundant; I prefer to minimize clicks. It seems to work, but I wasn’t sure if there might be any unseen issues with it.

But, yeah, going strait from cart to selected checkout would be ideal, or even offering the gateway selection directly in the cart when there are more than one, which seams doable.
