I hope all is well. Today I received an e-mail claiming they are from the Shopify Security Team. This is what is says. I don't know weather to do what it is asking because I am not sure if it is real. Any help for me please?
We need your help resolving an issue with your shopify account. Until you help us resolve this issue, we've temporarily limited what you can do with your account.
What's going on?
We face a problem in the ratification of the real owner of the account .We now need you to re-confirm your account information to us.
If this is not completed by 23-11-2017, we will be forced to suspend your account indefinitely.
What to do next :
We have sent you an attachment which contains all the necessary steps in order to restore your account access.
Download and open it in your browser. After we have gathered the necessary information, you will regain full access to your account.
That feels off to me. I would suggest talking to Shopify Support directly.
Denis - without more info it would be hard to know for sure. If there's any doubt contact the Shopify support team directly.
Has anyone gotten a response regarding this concern? I have received the same suspicious email from "The Shopify Security Team". I left a detailed message, seeking advice at https://help.shopify.com/questions. No reply yet. I am new to Shopify & would greatly appreciate any information or recommendations.
This is Leon from the Support team at Shopify.
If you receive an email that appears to be from Shopify requesting you click-through to a page that is not hosted on Shopify.com or download an attachment to your device please contact support to verify it's legitimacy. The email described above sounds a lot like a phishing email discovered recently, but I would need to look at it to be sure. If you have received an apparent phishing email, please download and send the email as an attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org. This will help our team investigate the source of the phishing emails.
If you have clicked a link or downloaded an attachment from a phishing email please contact support as soon as possible so we can take action to further protect your account from unauthorized access.
I highly recommend you secure your account with Two-Factor Authentication to further protect your account now and in the future. Our guide on this topic has step-by-step instructions for setting up this feature in your account.
I hope this helps!
