I’m sure I’m not the only one wishing Shopify’s Rich Text Editor would be a a little bit Richer and less Temperamental (to say the least). When it comes down to text formatting and laying out images on blog posts or product descriptions, we have such a hard time. Putting together a single blog post like this one on menopause, nearly gave me hot flashes again, with images and text jumping all over the place. Have any of you guys tried a text editor that would allow its posts to be exported as code, that we could then copy and paste into Shopify’s blog posts or product descriptions? It’d save tons of time. Thanks in advance!

The rich text editor can be a bit fiddly - especially when making advanced page designs - because you are essentially writing code.
We have a couple of apps in our App Store that help you with this. Feel free to check out:
All the best,
Nick from Shogun Drag & Drop Page Builder, here.
@Kerstin K. - thank you so much for the recommendation. FYI, we extend a 20% discount on any of our monthly plans to Shopify users referred by a Guru or Shopify employee:
I can appreciate where you're coming from, and I can't speak for Shopify in terms of how they plan or prioritize updates.
For clarification, in the case of Shogun Drag & Drop Page Builder, we're talking about something that is significantly more robust than just text editing, and would actually be a sizeable undertaking for Shopify to develop.
-Completely drag & drop page editing and building in a WYSIWYG editor
-Responsive design that automatically fits all screen sizes
-Live preview, and preview in editor for all device screen sizes
-A library of elements, some of which would usually require custom coding, or hiring an expert.
-Custom drag and drop element creation with an in app coding editor for Liquid, CSS, and JS
-Collections for custom dynamically generated data
-In app 3rd party integrations for all kinds of things
That probably sounds like a sales pitch, but I just wanted to clarify that this software is a actually pretty robust. I think that a lot of the apps in the app store could be standard features of Shopify, but they have a large platform with a lot of areas that they are constantly improving.
Hope you had a great weekend!
Thanks for all that but a truly "Rich" text editor needs to be part of Shopify's basic functionality in 2017 (!). We won't be getting yet another app for something as basic as writing a blog post.
Food for though from Joe Trubiano
I've been using Shopify for over 3 years and they have made no improvement to their editor in that time. It took me over 3 hours yesteray to put together a 100 word blog post. If I were using a free template I could understand the need to use a paying app but I have a premium template and it seems that easy text editing should be part of the package.
We deserve better.
Hi Robert, thank you but we do know all of that. The issue is having to deal with a very temperamental interface once you include headings, bullet points etc. Lines of text and images easily lose their format and it's a real mess. Anyone who's tried putting together a simple blog post with 3 images and headings will know that. Thanks anyways
