I've read many threads concerning this topic, and I find that the Shopify people answering these questions are always very blunt and offer no real explanation as to why we can't change the URLs. For such an advanced system, it seems like this should be a no brainer.
This is critical to natural SEO strategies for any business. I think most paid shopping cart systems offer this option, at least with the higher end package options. What is the real reason behind Shopify's choice to restrict URL changes on those templates?
Is there at least a third party plugin we can use to acheive this?

I'm not a Shopify employee so you'd need to ask the source directly on that front. I can at least tell you that's just how it is and there's no current method to change it. Hence the 'Nope'. If I was to guess I'd assume it's down to how the internal DB and resource allocation / redirects are handled. That's conjecture of course.
The collections/ and products/ aren't too big of an issue, I'd probably have designed my URLs this way anyway. I do have a problem with the /pages and /blogs format though.
Nick, maybe we should note the links to all of the posts about this, having everyone behind fixing this issue upvote the posts, hopefully bringing attention to Shopify? I'm not sure how responsive they are to developer requests, but I'd like to think they will take it into account if they see a high level of interest.
"Pages" is not really putting value to Search Engines. These characters are not necessary for the search engine to query and lists it to its SERP especially if you have long tail title for that page. Anyway if this will not be resolve it is expedient to optimized your page properly to still rank it in the SERP.
THis looks very bad as per the SEO Prospective, as such there is no such length for URL in google update but as for ranking factor they only choose first 3-4 keywords and, as our url is filled with unvanted keywords generate a problem for onpage SEO, there should be some solutions for this issue as soon as possible, When I was trying to optimize my site I get url some thing like this:
here in this URL if we check for first 3-4 keywords they are repeating only. I need to remove collections, Satthwaoutfits, product other more keywords got over optimized in URL as you see.
Need some solutions for solve this issue
Shopify also create product URL by removing collections and collection name- For example 2nd one is shorter then 1st one and containing desire key words.
For SEO may use this.
