URL without "www." won't resolve to our store: Domain Name Setup Problems with Network Solutions

Folks, I've seen this one a few times on this board but I haven't seen a full solution.

We just launched our shopify site and followed the support instructions to point our domain that is registered through Network Solutions

As instructed we used the Cname approach...setting up WWW and * to point to shopify..

the www.domain.com works fine but the URL without the www is not resolving to the www.domain.com

Since I can't setup an A record with the IP address (shopify indicates they change it a lot) and network solutions seems to wipe out any cnames if you set up a URL forwarding...I'm at a loss.

If you have conquered this problem, I'd be greatly appreciative for any assistance.

Hi Jay, you need to do a permanent redirect (301). You will redirect the non www to www.domain.com. See the wiki for more details: http://wiki.shopify.com/DNS
