This is my first time posting here so I apologize if I screw this up but I'm hoping someone on here can help me out. I am developing a site that allows franchisees to come to the site and order a specific promotional item to use at their franchise. We have a set # of this item in stock but will be able to fulfill them at a later date if we sell over the in-stock inventory.
For reporting purposes, I want to be able to know when the initial stock was used up and when we switched over to the two week turnaround time stock by creating different SKUS.
So for example. We have 10,000 pairs of sunglasses in stock for fulfillment. We set the SKU to STOCKSUNGLASSES and set the initial inventory to 10,000. Once the 10,001st pair of sunglasses is sold, the SKU changes to ORDEREDSUNGLASSES but nothing else changes.
Is there a way to set an inventory trigger on Shopify to accomplish this?
Im not 100 % sure but maybe triggers can help you, https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/apps/apps-by-shopify/flow/create-workflow/triggers#triggers
Someone from shopify team could give a correct answer on this.
