Virus Spam Pop up - Scaring our Customers Away!

Just a heads up for anyone visiting this page with a similar problem, scratching their heads after seeing their site redirect to casinos, tabloid newspaper, BIngo apps and other such unwanted redirects.

We have just removed a similar nasty piece of script from our site.

The responsible script was due to an app we had installed from the Shopify appstore called IMAGE SAFE by Transportr. Their app was 'involved with injecting a script' that caused our redirects according to Shopify support. The support team kindly removed the malicious script from our site this morning after we attempted to report it to them again late last night. From memory the app disabled the right-click button so visitors couldn't steal our images. Instead the app steals your traffic - 30% of ours! The app was removed from the appstore in Sept 2018, so, it pains me to say, we can only presume we have been redirecting our 30% of visitors for 18 months! It would have been sensible for Shopify to contact those who had previously installed it, since they had identified the malicious script and offered assistance to remove the app there and then. Perhaps that's something they may consider for future apps that 'go rogue'. I am still in disbelief that you have such ability to do such a thing with Shopify app's - what a security flaw!

Shopify support, as in this post, required two visits for them to fully remove it. If it weren't for this post, I probably wouldn't have tried support again. The first time they replied with 'it's a crypto script'. We were working with a security company to help banish the redirects, they were helpful but unable to assist as they couldn't identify the core problem. Shopify second time round, within hours had resolved it for us (Thanks to John & Nicole at Shopify!)

Now there is just the question of our loss of earnings. In the meantime, I hope this helps the next guy!

OP, nice one, we are also very grateful to you for taking the time to write this! ;)

Hi Ryder,

We are also having the same issue with our store and has been going on for nearly 8 months now.

Could we get some help? If what I read on this forum is true we have lost out a lot on website traffic and its also affecting our marketing efforts as well. Only applicable to those on iOS devices however and no one else.

This is our website. https://www.junxclothing.co.uk

Thanks

I'm having a similar issue with a popup that is asking for credit card info. Shopify is looking into it, but it's been a really frustrating process.
