Why was product status changed to active?

I was dismayed to find out that Shopify had taken all hidden/inactive/unpublished products in my shop to a new "active" status. Why was this change made? Now I have to go through every single product to determine what was meant to be unpublished. What a disaster! I've read on the forum about the opposite--shop owners saying that their default is draft status. Well, my default is active and I don't like it. I liked the way it was before--add a product and select whether I want it published or not. Why would Shopify choose to do this. Products in my store were unpublished for a reason.

I second this complaint. And why is there no answer from Shopify after 10 days?

You recently changed things so that products uploaded via the API are now shown as "active" rather than "draft" even when the "published" parameter is set false. This breaks our app and confuses our users. Why on earth would you introduce a breaking change in such a half-baked manner? I expected a bit more professionalism from Shopify.
