1) Sorry thats not supported. You have to go with a gateway or paypal. All other options are too insecure and considered harmful for end customers.
2) Pricing isn’t final. The current plan to deal with such issues is to present a list of all the charges on the account page where our customers can appeal the lines one by one. This will be as convenient as possible to the shop owners.
I posted this as a suggestion in the admin facility but will bring it up here again.
I think it would be good to give people the option to pay by cheque or direct deposit when ordering online. The order could then be marked as unpaid until the administrator marks it as paid through the back-end.
Does that make sense?
We’d be really interested to know how you will ‘police’ the honesty of shop owners marking manual/off-line orders as paid, rather than no sale/not fulfilled, etc.
We have several clients who are interested in Shopify, but they prefer cheque/direct deposits to credit cards…
If you have a solution to this conundrum, an indication would be appreciated.
The billing part of shopify isn’t written yet. There will be a UI for our customers which will make the process as transparent as possible.
In essence we will flag orders of types like COD and deposit with “charge” by default.
There will be a UI in which you can dispute orders and tell us the reason why we should not charge you. Valid reasons will be “test order” and “customer changed his mind” and similar cases. We will use some algorithms internally to find people who exploit this trust and will act accordingly.
