Hello,

I am just about to go Live with a tie website and want to see if a programmer out there will be able to help me.  We sell ties on our website and we need for $3.00 to be subtracted on the cost of each tie when 3 or more ties are purchased.  Please contact me ASAP if you are interested in this job.  Thank you,

Chad

Charles, had one other thing come up.  Our Theme only allows for 8 products at a time to be displayed and then makes the user scroll through pages.  Is there a way to diplay the whole category at once (say Stripe ties) eventhough there is 100 or so?  Or atleast displaying 50-75 at a time.  I have turned in an email to Shopify to ask the same question but you came to mind as well.  Thanks,

Chad

Sorry cannot post anything more helpful about the discount we need to apply if 3 products are purchased.  Haven't had any luck yet with this issue.  Anyone out there have any ideas?  Will take someone who knows Shopify and can program a bit.  Thanks,

Chad

I don't think you can do it this way... there is no logic to accomodate a count of items in the cart and the use of a discount code. Hence my previous question. If someone has figured it out... share...

One solution I am thinking of here goes as follows. It involves an alternate product template and some JavaScript.

All ties must use one and the same alternate product template, say, product.tie.liquid. Each tie product will have as its first variant the regularly priced tie, and as second variant the same tie $3 cheaper. The alternate template will only show and add to the cart the first variant

In cart.liquid, you'll have some logic in place, and swap the ties "line items", using Shopify Ajax API, if the overall quantity of ties is greater than or equal to 3: you will remove from the cart the regularly-priced ties and add the discounted ones, when the quantity is right.

When the overall quantity falls below the threshold, you'll swap the other way around: you'll remove the discounted ties and replace them with regularly-priced ties.

You can hide the checkout button with Liquid if the cart is 'in violation' of your rules. That would be a safeguard if JavaScript has been disabled in the browser.

I'd think you could do it by counting number of items in the cart that are certain type (Ties), if more >= 3, add a discount via JavaScript? I'm not good enough to code it just thinking about how to solve issue..
